ReMar
Redefining online nursing education
Nursing students face an intense, high-stakes testing environment, especially when preparing for the NCLEX. ReMar set out to build a dedicated platform to support them and to give educators and institutions better tools to guide them.
We worked with the ReMar team to turn a patchwork of spreadsheets, outdated tools, and manual workflows into a focused, cross-platform experience. The new system cuts down admin overhead, gives educators more visibility, and helps students study smarter on their path to passing the NCLEX.
Challenge
The NCLEX exam isn’t just difficult. It’s overwhelming. ReMar’s goal was to create a tool that could simplify how nursing students prepare, without losing depth. But the platform also had to serve instructors and school admins who were juggling hundreds of students across institutions.
Our design challenge was to reduce all that friction, bring clarity to overwhelmed students and speed to overworked admins, all in a system that felt modern, accessible, and easy to use from day one.
Institutional challenges
Institutional users faced a different set of problems. 78% of partner schools were manually tracking over 500 students across multiple campuses, with outdated prep materials causing first-time pass rates to fall 22% below the national average. Admins spent up to 14 hours each week preparing accreditation reports. Subscription tools were clunky, leading to 15% revenue leakage, and onboarding new institutions could take up to 30 days. There was no unified dashboard to track engagement or performance.
Student pains
Before our redesign, the system had deep content but little structure. Students didn’t know where to start or what to focus on. In early surveys, 63% of learners said they struggled to follow a personalized study plan, and nearly 6.2 hours per week were spent just hunting for good practice materials. Mobile access was limited — only 41% reported a satisfying experience on their phones.
Our approach
We treated ReMar like a real product, not just a collection of screens. From the start, we focused on what students and admins actually needed to succeed, then designed around that. We interviewed 52 people across the platform: students, educators, and admins. We mapped 14 user journeys across web and mobile, and broke down over 2,400 real NCLEX questions to shape smarter testing logic and content delivery.
Co-creation moved quickly. We prototyped structured content flows, mobile-friendly layouts, and admin tools designed for scale. Everything was reviewed and refined with the client in tight feedback loops.
- 52 interviews across students, educators, and admins
- 14 mapped user journeys across web and mobile
- 2,400+ NCLEX questions analyzed to shape content strategy
- A/B tested with 900 students
- Stress-tested with 5,000+ concurrent users
- 92% task success rate in usability testing
Feature highlights
1. Learning hub
The student experience brings structure and clarity to exam prep. Learners can start lessons, watch daily motivation videos, and move through full NCLEX courses directly from their dashboard. Each course includes sections, chapters, and visible progress.
When students need extra support, they can access the in-app shop to find books and e-resources that fit their learning goals. Everything is integrated, easy to browse, and just a tap away.
2. Student management
Simple tools to manage thousands of learners. Admins can view, search, and filter through student accounts in seconds. Whether they’re tracking enrollment, subscription types, or course assignments, everything is organized and searchable.
3. Reports
The reporting dashboard gives administrators a clear view of student activity. From quiz performance to time on platform, every data point is visualized and easy to track. Admins can quickly spot trends, evaluate engagement, and pull reports for accreditation or internal reviews.
4. Profiles
Each student has a detailed profile that shows their school, courses, contact info, and subscription status. Admins can manage billing cycles, apply changes to subscriptions, and review payment history at a glance.
Outcomes
Just three months after launch, ReMar onboarded six institutions and enrolled over 2,500 new students. Within six months, more than 2,200 learners cleared the NCLEX, including many international nurses and repeat test-takers who previously struggled with outdated materials.
The new platform didn’t just improve learning outcomes. It gave institutions better tools to manage performance, simplified onboarding, and cut down time spent on manual admin. Educators finally had visibility. Students had structure. And ReMar had a product that could scale.
